Pictou Landing First Nation Elementary School Food Drive
by Grade Primary Class Reporters
On December 6th, 2001, Pictou Landing First Nation School students went around their community to collect food for the Pictou County Food Bank. The day before collecting the food some classes got together and painted Christmas decorations on paper bags. The older children helped the younger children.
On Thursday the whole school went in the community to fill the bags. The Grade Primary class went on Maple Street.
"We went to the door and asked people for food to give to the people who do not have enough food. Then we said "Wela'lin and Merry Christmas!" We had fun helping people in need.
Spirit of Giving Food Bank Drive
by Grade Three and Four Class Reporters
The students of Pictou Landing First Nation School decorated paper bags one day. The next day they went out into the community and collected food for the Pictou County Food Bank.
Each person they encountered was very kine and willing to donate food. The students collected a generous amount of food. A man from the Pictou County Food Bank came to take the collected food. A man from the newspaper took a picture.
Despite the cold and wet weather that day, the students of Pictou Landing First Nation felt happy to be helping others.
