Dear Help Desk,
In the Spirit of Giving, the grade 3/4 class of Pictou Landing First Nation School held a Hat and Pajama fundraiser. The Fundraiser was open to all staff and students at the school. Those who participated paid $1.00 to wear a hat or pajamas and $2.00 if they wore both. We raised $38.00 and in the process had a lot of fun. The same amount was donated by the 3/4 teacher. With the combined amount we had enough to buy toys for less fortunate boys and girls for Christmas. The toys were then donated to the Salvation Army.
In the Spirit of Giving the Grade 1/2 class at Pictou Landing First Nation Elementary School made and sold crafts to raise money for needy students. We also each brought in a small item that would fit in the box. We brainstormed things these kids would need all year long like toothbrushes and soap. We wanted to make sure these things were not toys but stuff to be used each day, things many of us get in our stocking. We packed up and we used the raised money to buy things the students would need packed these in two shoe boxes one for a boy and one for a girl and sent them to the Salvation Army. Making sure these were marked not to be wrapped as a toy. We felt the Spirit of Giving and felt good that we helped people.
