
Chief Harold Sappier was the longest reigning Chief in the history of St. Mary's. He served 20 years as Chief and 4 years as a council member.
Chief Sappier was looked upon as a man with strong indian values. He had a deep concern for his people and spent much of his time looking for ways to help them.
He had a strong committment to education and worked to realize his goal of having a community school here in St. Mary's. A school where children would be taught to have pride in their culture, their people, their language and achieve success in the area of education.
