The grade fives and sixes put on a birthday party for Jesus. Both grades worked very hard for about 2 weeks in the preparation. Together it was decided who did what and who brought what. Everyone brought food and there was plenty. There was a beautiful cake for Se'sus. Students wrote invitations to important people in their lives other than parents. Some picked godparents, uncles, aunts or grandparents. Students made or brought gifts for the Giveaway. Students took part in setting up and cleaning afterwards.
Falon Stevens was the M.C. for the birthday party. She started with the Our Father in Mi'kmaq asking everyone to join in. She welcomed them for coming and briefly went over the program. The cake was lit by Mulch Paul.
Songs were sung in Mi'kmaq and English, also Birthday song for Se'sus. The Hoop dance was done by Nathan Knockwood and Gordon Julien Jr. The Kojua was done by Justine Googoo, Daniela G., Heather Francis, Tara Julien, Blair Googoo and Aurora Cremo. Tara Julien read two Christmas poems.
The Giveaway was led by Falon Stevens, who went directly to each guest and escorted them to the Giveaway table. The guests ranged in age from a 4 year old to 60 plus. The candle in the middle of the table was lit and had a light for Mary, Joseph and Se'sus.
The tea and sandwiches were served afterwards. Students made sure their guest had plenty to eat. Guests mingled and a few more pictures were taken. In the background Mi'kmaq music played softly. Everyone was thanked for coming. Students all joined in to clean up and all went well!
